Zola Has Backed Cole
Yes, West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola has actually backed striker Carlton Cole to take a main role in his side’s Premier League battle. Well, Zola has no doubts about backing Cole despite the striker being hampered by injury problems for a quite a long time now and also him not being able to record even a single goal out of the eight games he had so far.
“Carlton has not scored for a while, but the contribution from his game is massive,” Zola said.
Zola naturally did not take for granted the fact that the 26-year-old English international footballer has been unproductive in terms of goals but then he has taken into account other significant things.
“He produced a good pass for Ilan for one of his goals recently and when he did that, it was as good as scoring himself,” Zola said. “Carlton was brilliant in the second half against Everton two weeks ago and last weekend against Sunderland he was everywhere. He has been great.”
For the manager, though Cole may not be that fit and may not be doing that great for a while, still he can be helpful to the national team.
“This season he has been very unfortunate with his physical problems, but he has a lot to give the national team,” Zola added. “His knees were a problem, but he’s getting better and better and I’m expecting him to score every time now.”
Zola has faith on Cole that despite him being not that good physically because of injury problems and him not that unproductive in terms of goals, he has much to give the national team. For Zola, he is still a must-have. But then the young striker must still prove he is still someone to have and naturally someone who can really help the national team.
