Xavi Unhappy With Performance of Referee Mallenco

XaviBarcelona’s midfielder Xavier Hernández i Creus or best known just as Xavi was, according to news reports, unhappy with the performance of referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco in their derby draw with Espanyol at the famous stadium Estadi Cornella-El Prat. Xavi, in an interview, said that referee Mallenco did not manage the match right and for such mismanagement he got upset.

Xavi indeed first conceded that they were frustrated by their city rivals for long periods and then admitted that they actually needed then to play for the last 28 minutes of the game with only ten good men after the dispatch of Brazilian wing-back Dani Alves.

For the La Liga club midfielder, referee Mallenco only helped the team which actually did not show any signs of interest in playing football. For him, referee Mallenco did not actually handle the match accordingly.

“The referee helped the team that did not want to play football,” said Xavi. “It was a very intense game and the referee did not control the match properly. He gave out many warnings, but the cards did not come to pass.”

Xavi also added that they performed with pressure as well as intensity as they were indeed man-marked throughout the match, and that they felt uncomfortable.

“They man-marked us throughout the game and played with pressure and intensity and we never felt comfortable at all during the match,” said Xavi.

Xavi as part of Barcelona has the right to actually complain most especially that certain thing to him seemed not right. But of course, we also have not heard of the side of referee Mallenco. We still need what exactly happened from referee Mallenco’s end. Things might be different for the referee. No doubt that the story, from the said referee, must also be actually heard by us.
