Ward Appointed as New Colchester Manager

John WardYes, John Ward was appointed as the new manager of the Coca-Cola League One side Colchester. From being assistant manager, the former footballer was promoted to manager.

The 59-year-old football enthusiast was the assistant of Aidy Boothroyd at the Community Stadium but luckily got the chance to take the major position. And the former Cheltenham and Carlisle boss became the third manager in an instant just after Paul Lambert departed to join Norwich and Boothroyd transferred to Coventry.

Ward was interviewed after the appointment and expressed own excitement with the opportunity to further career.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Aidy but he was always aware I wanted to manage again and now I’ve got that opportunity,” said Ward. “It’s a progressive football club. We are trying to build and develop and hopefully our partnership will last a bit longer than the last couple. It really excites me to think I’ve got another opportunity to further my career and see if we can get promotion.”

First-team coach Joe Dunne was chosen to become the assistant manager.

Well, for some, Ward still has to show own abilities. But then despite this, Ward still expressed gladness with the opportunity to be the manager. And for sure, because of this gladness, the former footballer will do only the right things and everyone will just find the former footballer really deserving to be the manager.

“I’m very pleased that the chairman has decided to offer me it as he must have had a lot of really good applicants,” said Ward. “To be given the chance is terrific and I’ve got to try and do my very best.”

We just hope that Ward be able to show everyone own abilities. We just hope that Ward be able to prove to everyone that he must be really the one to be selected for the Colchester job.
