Wakamatsu Dismissed as Seattle’s Manager
Supporters of Don Wakamatsu were saddened by the reports confirming his dismissal as Seattle’s manager. According to the reports, he was dismissed as manager of Seattle by general manager Jack Zduriencik and was replaced by Daren Brown however on a temporary basis.
But there were also some others who were also dismissed. Supporters of these individuals also felt bad just at the same time supporters of Wakamatsu felt unpleasant. Also dismissed were Ty Van Burkleo as bench coach, Rick Adair as pitching coach and Steve Hecht as performance coach. Roger Hansen replaced Burkleo and Carl Willis replaced Adair. Pedro Grifol also became part of the new staff.
However, Zduriencik also found it hard to dismiss all of them. But then the general manager explained that a decision like what he made must be made.
Zduriencik said: “I do not take this decision lightly. I have wrestled with this. I have thought through it long and hard. However, at the end of the day, a decision had to be made. And my decision, my recommendation, was that we make a change at the top of our on-field personnel. We did that today.”
And the reason why Zduriencik ended up dismissing all of them, it was also explained.
Zduriencik explained: “I realize that our fans would like for me to go into great detail on how I arrived at this decision. The truth of the matter is, I had lost confidence in Don, Ty and Rick as the best fit for us this season and as we move forward. New leadership is needed and it is needed now. I expect Daren, Roger and Carl to provide that leadership, both in the clubhouse and on the field.”
Well, the general manager had to dismiss all of them. Their supporters felt bad with the decision but then it must be made for the club’s sake.
