Tonge Expected Stoke City Departure

Michael TongeStoke City midfielder Michael Tonge admitted recently that he actually expected departure from Stoke City after some reports on his possible transfer to Cardiff City were out. The midfielder really thought he will be leaving the club after release of those reports.

The former Sheffield United player did not show something really impressive while at the Britannia Stadium and was actually placed on loan with Preston North End and Derby County just the previous term.

And for the Potters, Tonge has only started four matches and therefore was reported to just possibly transfer to Bluebirds the previous season.

But then, the midfielder still has two years left on his contract with Stoke City. Thus, the Stoke City departure must be something questionable at the moment.

“I’m in a bit of a strange situation, but I’ll be at Stoke getting fit for the new season and will speak to the manager,” Tonge said. “It was good just to be playing when I went to Derby last season. I’d like to be playing again this season, but it looks as though it might be elsewhere. I’m not complaining about that, just being realistic.”

Tonge confirmed that he will be at Stoke City to get ready for the coming season. And he just admitted to be actually in a quite strange situation.

“I’m certainly not sulking about my situation,” Tonge added. “From my point of view, I want to get fit for the new season and see what happens. Having been at Derby last season, I know they were interested in doing something again for this time. But I think that was another loan.”

Tonge just needs some time to actually work on some things like in particular getting fit for the new season. Well, we just all have to give him what he needs and then actually see what happens next.
