Stansfield Diagnosed With Bowel Cancer

Adam StansfieldAdam Stansfield of Exeter City is now ill, he has bowel cancer. He has made abdominal complaints before and then was indeed brought to a hospital for certain tests. And today we confirm, he is sick, he has bowel cancer.

Of course, it is something not good to know. But it is reality. The 31-year-old striker is currently not in good condition because of being diagnosed with bowel cancer.

“It’s bad, bad news,” Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale said. “There’s little good on this subject. It’s a word, cancer, that people are scared of. We don’t like saying it but you’ve got to tell the truth, you’ve got to say what it is.”

But the manager might be a bit optimistic in regards to the player being ready for the fight.

“Adam’s a gritty character on the field and is the same off it and he’s building himself up for the challenge,” said Tisdale.

And Tisdale also said that he along the many others will be supportive and be just there for him.

“We’re fully behind him and he’s got a lot of friends here,” said Tisdale.

Stansfield can be considered a player worth commending. He has also played for Yeovil and Hereford. And for the Grecians in League One this term, he has made seven goals in 19 appearances.

Tisdale also explained that with Stansfield being a good footballer, with actually good level of experience, he will be well.

“A career in sport does enable you to deal with stressful moments and challenges,” Tisdale said. “Nothing quite like what he’s about to go through, but if there’s someone who can deal with it and meet it head on with real purpose, Adam’s the man. He’s given so much effort to this club in recent years and I see no reason why he can’t continue to do that in due course.”
