Smith Opted to Remain With Swindon Town F.C. Until Summer of 2012
Goalkeeper Phil Smith finally decided to extend his stay with the English football team Swindon Town F.C. until summer of 2012. He already signed the two-year contract extension that would extend his stay with the said team for at least two years.
Smith joined Swindon Town F.C. in the summer of 2006. And now after almost four years, he has already recorded 85 appearances in all competitions. No doubt, the 30-year-old goalkeeper has done what he was obliged to do then at the County Ground. But may be he felt there are other things that he still needs to do, just apart from what he has already done. Thus, he considered staying with the team for a period of time.
“I had to think about it for while because obviously I haven’t played a lot but I won’t have a better chance of playing in the Championship than I will here,” Smith said. “The club has progressed massively in the last couple of years and I want to be a part of it.”
Also, Smith might have realized that Swindon actually made him feel wanted, that he must be a part of the team’s every success and may be even failure.
“Swindon have shown their faith in me and they’ve made me feel wanted which was a big thing and made it easy for me in the end,” Smith said.
It is indeed a good thing that the goalkeeper Smith decided to remain with Swindon Town F.C. until summer of 2010. He will greatly benefit from the extension of his stay just as the English football team will. Both Smith and Swindon Town F.C. will greatly benefit from the said extension. Thus, it is just right that it was pushed through, that the goalkeeper himself and the team actually made it possible.
