Shrimps Won in Their First Match of the Year
Because of a big freeze, the Shrimps were not able to get themselves a match early on this year. They went through several frustrating weeks, they actually went through the hard times. However, their ordeal paid them off big time with a significant victory.
To be exact, the Shrimps were without a game for three weeks. But then their distressing times came to an end when they have their first match of the year and they actually won it over.
Stewart Drummond’s header granted the lead to the hosts. And also, though Barnet indeed leveled through penalty of Matt Lockwood, Mark Duffy grabbed a win in just little time left.
“It was a fantastic victory and I thought the lads showed outstanding character after being without a game for such a long time. We started superbly with a goal after just four minutes but I think we then thought it was going to be easy”, Mark Lillis said.
And in addition the Morecambe F.C. man said, “it was great to get the new year off to such a great start after a frustrating few weeks for everyone. It keeps the pressure on the sides around the play-off zone and that is where we want to be”.
No doubt, Lillis was thrilled by how the things went for them. After several weeks of without a game, they finally got their first game of the year scheduled. And they even played in the game so well, winning it over against their opponents.
May be, it also helps that Lillis and his team waited for long for a game as when they finally have it, they gave it all. But for sure, they will still play well in their upcoming games with what they’ve experienced for the past three weeks. They will surely chase for more wins.
