Reyes Excited for Spring Training

Jose ReyesMets shortstop Jose Reyes, after suffering from a long-term leg injury, is now excited for Spring Training. After a workout on Long Island on Monday, he actually vowed to show his fans that he is presently in good condition, just ready to be back on the field.

“I’m ready,” Reyes said to the team’s SNY television network. He believes that his playing ability is back.

And in addition he told the team, “I can’t wait to get to Spring Training to try to play baseball again, because I haven’t played in such a long time. I love the game. I love to be on the field.”

The baseball player who has been so after being back to play indeed took a meaningful step in certain direction and made five 90-foot sprints on Monday. Then he declared himself just fit for the Spring Training.

“That’s how I do it,” Reyes said to SNY. The Mets has looked forward to hearing such words from him in no time. Just for weeks last season, he was classified as day-to-day with a deceptive benign calf injury.

It was in mid-May when Reyes was forced to be out of a game against the Braves. And from then on, he only made three short field appearances.

It was summer when the Mets changed their diagnosis of Reyes’ condition from right calf tendinitis to right hamstring tendon torn.

The tendon was worked out to be back in shape though it meant pulling Reyes’ right hamstring muscle in August. He underwent an operation after the season to get rid of the scar tissue from around the hamstring tendon.

The Mets indeed anticipated that Reyes will soon be fine and ready for Spring Training and finally be back in playing baseball.

“I’m ready right now, so I can’t wait to get to Spring Training to hang out with my teammates again, because I missed that last year.” Reyes told the SNY.
