No Surgery Soon for Alex Rodriguez
Just some days before Christmas, fans of Alex Rodriguez as well as of the Yankees got a very wonderful news. The superstar will not undergo any surgery soon, this was actually confirmed during a follow-up check up on his surgically repaired right hip. According to Dr. Marc Philippon, his attending doctor, no additional procedure is needed so far.
March of this year, Rodriguez had an intermediate operation under the care of Dr. Philippon and after was thought to likely have another following the season. But the doctor said that the Yankees key player is strong enough to begin preparing for next year.
Rodriguez said, “basically, he was very excited by my MRI”, and that, “he examined me and said no surgery is needed. I’m going to check in a couple of times next year, but it’s great news. I’ve got the green light to move forward with my conditioning program”.
After going through the battle under the knife, Rodriguez returned to New York’s lineup and hit .286 with 30 home runs. He also batted .365 with six homers, had 100 RBIs in the regular season and 18 RBIs in the playoffs as the club made sure of their 27th World Series championship, Rodriguez’s first actually.
Well, Dr. Philippon did not assured Rodriguez that he will not eventually undergo any operation but at least he should get through 2010 without having any. In connection to this, Rodriguez said, “you can’t say ‘ever,’ but I think he is saying for the immediate future, whether it’s one, two, or three years from now”, and that, “obviously we’ll have to keep an eye on it for the next couple of years. But I can move forward and continue to have an offseason with my full conditioning program”.
What a very wonderful news for all fans of Rodriguez and his team the Yankees. What a very nice Christmas gift for them.
