McLaren to Introduce Own Upgrade
Each of the team in Formula One racing has been just into having or making changes on own cars, systems and the likes of course to actually become a better racing team. Thus, it should not be surprising for Formula One fans to hear about one Formula One team introducing certain changes just after another.
Well, just recently McLaren’s engineering director Paddy Lowe has actually confirmed McLaren having specific change and this can be compared to that of Red Bull’s that has just something to do with low-blown exhaust solution. Lowe has also confirmed that it will be introduced really soon.
“It won’t have escaped your notice that Red Bull have an interesting use they’ve made of exhaust exit flow,” Lowe said. “It’s reasonably common knowledge that the rest of the teams are playing catch up in that area. It’s quite a significant performance step. So that’s something we’re aiming to bring to the British Grand Prix and to try to make work from the outset.”
However, the engineering director has confirmed as well that introducing such change mid-season might be really challenging. But the technical group got thorough preparations.
“There are some technical challenges with it, not least blasting your bodywork directly with exhaust flow,” Lowe said. “It can generate some very high temperatures. So it’s not without challenges to hit the ground running with a system like that when we don’t have any proper track testing to prove it out. But we’ll be doing trials at an aerodynamic test day before Silverstone, and we hope to have it working on the practice session and then race it on the Sunday.”
Fans of McLaren of course just want the best for the team. They must be just wishing now for the success of the upgrade that the team has planned long before to achieve.
