Matt Jones Past – Substance Abuse and Suspension
Everyone waits to see how it works out with Receiver Matt Jones. He will be doing some workouts for the Titans, and if he does well, it will mean that he has a very good career waiting for him in the future.
Fans are really cheering and waiting for Matt Jones. In the past he has shown that he has what it takes and everybody knows that he has talent. While he was in Jacksonville, he caught for 761 yards, catching 65 passes. In total, he had 166 catches for 2,153 yards and an amazing 15 touchdowns. Fans are hoping that he will have the same numbers or better with the Titans. If he can, he will be getting a lot of bets, and people will be respecting him in a way that he has never been respected before.
This job will be ideal for Jones because he loves the Titans and he really feels that he can play his best with them. The Titans hope that he can show this when he does his work outs and that he won’t be lazy or do anything other than what he usually does. Another thing that everyone is pumped up about is that before he came along, the Titans had hardly any good receivers. They only had Nate Washington and Justin Gage, but those two don’t have as much experience as Jones does. This caused the Titans to try to get someone that will really help their team out in lots of ways.
However, there is one thing with Jones that some people are not pleased about. He was arrested in the past for substance abuse, and he also didn’t stick to the plea deal. The great thing is that he later completed a drug program and because he did well, those charges were dropped, and now he can play football again.
Jones was suspended for three games because of the abuse, and the team really suffered when he was out of the lineup. On March 16th, the Jaguars finally decided that they should release him because of all the damage that he had done to the team. Jones is alright about being released from the Jaguars because he feels that he can do even better with the Titans. The Titans hope that Jones continues to pull his act together because they really need him. If they don’t get Jones, the Titans will be left without having a good receiver, which would be really bad for them. They might not make it very far without having someone who can catch a lot of passes for over a thousand yards.
