It was Manchester United that dominated the game at San Siro and it was all because of the in-form Wayne Rooney who made two goals for the team just from behind. AC Milan was beaten 3-2 in a thrilling Champions League last 16 second leg match.

The Rossoneri was fired by Ronaldinho into an early advantage but after Paul Scholes increased the Red Devils’ winning chances. However, Rooney also showed his brilliance and the team was able to get the game control.

While Clarence Seedorf managed to pull a goal back for the Serie A side though later part, however it was Rooney that eventually obtained the great recognition from the crowd.

Alex Ferguson gave credit to Rooney’s form and so said, “Wayne’s second-half performance carried on the form he’s been showing recently. He’s in absolutely devastating form. They just couldn’t handle him in the second half. I thought he was marvelous.”

The Red Devils’ manager believed that in Rooney’s game over the last couple of month, there has actually been refinement.

Ferguson said, “There has been an improvement in his game over the last two months, confidence has a lot to do with that but it’s also his ability as a player. As I’ve said about him on a number of occasions what he has to do is improve his goal scoring. That’s what he’s doing now. When you look at the way he’s performing at the moment he must be regarded amongst those players at the highest level.”

And for Manchester United in general, the manager just said, “It was a bad start and it gave them encouragement. It was a bad period for us. We could have been two or three goals down. We were desperate to hang on and thankfully we got ourselves back into the game.”
