Manchester United Accepts Ferdinand’s Fate
La
st month, Rio Ferdinand got an automatic three-match ban in relation to his actions towards Craig Fagan of Hull City. He lashed out at Fagan and so given an instant ban on three matches. There was an initial appeal from Manchester United regarding the ban however it was considered of little to no weight by the Football Association or simply known as the FA.
Instead of lifting up the ban handed down to the 31-year-old center-half, the governing body added one match to it.
The one match added to the ban then urged Manchester United to consider making a second appeal. However, at this point, it seems that the club will just accept the fate of Ferdinand.
In no time, Ferdinand will be the new England captain and it is too unfortunate that he missed important victories over Portsmouth and Arsenal. And for his supporters, what’s even more frustrating to know is he will also miss league clashes with Aston Villa and Everton which the club might also be able to dominate in the end.
Alex Ferguson of Manchester United said, “We have to decide whether to appeal because there are conflicting ways in which these decisions are being viewed. I watched the game between Leyton Orient and Charlton on Monday and there was an elbow on the Charlton player three times as he was running with the ball. But nothing has happened with that.”
The Manchester United boss had given hint of just putting an end to the issue on the penalty given to Ferdinand by lodging a second appeal.
“There is a lot of confusion,” said Ferguson.
Ferguson and the rest of the members of Manchester United may have realized that the problem may just become bigger if they will push through with their plans on appealing. Things happen in the field and may not be regarded as they should be.
