Main Event Results for World Series of Poker

The world series of poker this year was hot and exciting, and the competition was highly intensive. It had the largest number of poker professionals who participated in a single tournament in a long time ago. Every fan expected the heat to continue to the end, but they were disappointed when most of the world’s top-class players were eliminated in the early stages of the tournament. Those players included Dan Harrington and Thor Hansen. The competition witnessed aggressive and risky moves and strategies from the players, where most of them adapted rising blinds and diminishing chip stacks techniques. At the end of last Sunday games, Warren Zackery had the lead of the competition with a total mark of five million chips.

Phil Ivey was the phenomena of the tournament, as he advanced to the top positions from far behind in the speed of rockets; but he had a difficult Sunday. In the later days he became number two based on the counts of chips. He is expected to win the tournament as he almost guaranteed his place in the main event before the tournament is suspended until November. Tuesday was Ivey’s day, as he became in the second place behind Billy Kopp and with less than 3 million chips difference between them. Ivey is a remarkable player but not as famous as the top professionals in the game. This is what WSOP is all about; less famous players beat the more famous players and make it to the finals.

On Wednesday, the main event was decided with fourteen players tearing each other apart and playing with all they got of brains and cunning. The nine players, who will proceed to the finals in November, had to be decided this night. The competition become slow and some times boring, as all the players was taking caution on every move in order not to lose any valuable marks. All the attention was focused on Ivey as he is the winner of 2009 tournament’s bracelet, but he had tough defeats and declined from the second place to the eighth place with a total chips’ count of about 7,300,000. Wednesday’s night was the longest night in the entire tournament, as it was very difficult to determine who was winning and going to the finals and who was losing and leaving before the finales.

When the fourteen players got back from the dinner break, everything changed. All the slow moves and cautions turned to become risky and fast-paced decisions. One by one, all the players started to come on each other and they began to fall, until there were the nine players remained to the final stage in November. The last player felled was Jordan Smith, as he was competing in a dual match was the chip’s leader Darvin Moon. Everyone was astonished with the major shift in the players’ attitude after dinner, and the fans testified that the competition never had been more exciting than this wild night.
