Lescott Not Fit for Manchester City’s Last Two Premier League Games
Just recently, Roberto Mancini has confirmed that Joleon Lescott will actually not be able to make it to the last two Premier League games of the season of Manchester City. One game will be against Tottenham which will happen on Wednesday and one game will be against West Ham United on Sunday.
The player has been sidelined for some time now due to an injury he earned himself in the warm-up before the Premier League Fulham clash in March.
And Mancini confirmed that Lescott will not most likely be in the last two Premier League games of the season of Manchester City. He has said that the player will not play again for the team this season.
“Joleon will not play for us again this season, but he will work every day and try to recover,” said Mancini. “I don’t know if Capello has spoken to him about the situation, but I haven’t spoken to Capello for the past 15 days.”
For Mancini, game on Wednesday is significant not only for the team but also for Tottenham. However, players who have played in huge games will be available for the game.
“Wednesday’s game is important for us and also for Tottenham, but it is a football match, not a war,” said Mancini. “The pressure is there, but that pressure is normal. We should not be nervous because we have players who have experience of big games. The likes of Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gareth Barry and Nigel de Jong have all played in big games like this before.”
While Mancini has also said that after the season Lescott has time to get fit. Hopefully the player makes it to the World Cup in South Africa next month for Fabio Capello’s England squad.
“I hope that Joleon can recover in time for the World Cup, though,” said Mancini. “There is time after the season finishes for him to get fit.”
