Josh Johnson to Stay With the Marlins Long-Term

Josh JohnsonIt is confirmed now that the famous Josh Johnson will still be with the Marlins. He will stay with the club for four years, just enough to say on a long-term basis.

Finally, it became a reality, Johnson will not depart from the Marlins, not at any time soon. Under a four-year contract of $39 million, he will continue to give his services as pitcher to the top baseball club.

The two sides have actually agreed on a one good deal, indeed a big contract that so far is the first of its kind in the Jeffrey Loria era. It keeps one of baseball’s best players in the books until 2013.

While for the 25-year-old pitcher, the deal actually led him to his dream. He said, “my No. 1 goal was to stay here”, and that “I wanted to stay here longer than one or two years. This means everything to me, to know that I’m going to be a Marlin, [that] I’m going to be there for the opening of the new stadium”.

The deal gave him the security he has been wanting for so long, security that no doubt is not just for his career, but also for the welfare of his family.

“This means everything,” Johnson said. And he added, “I now have security for my family, my wife’s family and my children’s children”.

According to the right-hander, things happened very quick. Just after some few talks over the last couple of days, a deal was agreed by two sides, then contract was actually signed.

At this point, Johnson is very pleased with how his career is doing. He is already so blessed even the new year is just starting. But at the same, the Marlins are also pleased to still have someone like Johnson who ever since has been contributing a lot to every success of the club.
