Ilitch Interested in Buying Detroit Pistons
Mike Ilitch, the owner of Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings, recently conceded that he wants to make sure that Detroit Pistons will not leave the town and admitted that he is interested in buying the Detroit-based team. He said that he is afraid that if the buyer is from outside Detroit, Detroit can lose the great team.
Ilitch said: “When I read in the paper there was the chance that this great sports town could lose one of its professional sports franchises, I just didn’t see how we could let that happen.”
Ilitch can’t just allow Detroit to lose Detroit Pistons. And so he became interested in buying the team. He already informed Detroit Pistons about his interest.
However, until now it is not that clear if Ilitch can buy Detroit Pistons. Owner Karen Davidson just said before that she is considering a sale of the franchise by itself or as part of a package with Palace Sports and Entertainment. And she also said that she anticipates a successful deal by maybe late October.
Ilitch seemed serious about buying Detroit Pistons so the team doesn’t need to leave the town. He knew that he can’t take it to see the team leaving the town with an out-of-town buyer. He realized that he needs to buy Detroit Pistons for it to stay in the town.
Ilitch was optimistic that good things can be brought for the franchise, the professional basketball league and the fans of the community he loves.
Ilitch said: “We believe we could bring a lot to the table that could be tremendously positive for the Pistons franchise, the NBA and the fans of this community.”
Well, it is not clear for now if Ilitch can buy Detroit Pistons. But let us just wish the best thing to happen.
