Howard Sprained His Left Ankle

Ryan HowardPhillies first baseman Ryan Howard left the Nationals Park last Sunday in bad condition. He actually sprained his left ankle when he tried to return to second base in the first inning in a 6-4 success in 11 innings over Washington Nationals.

However Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said, after Howard actually picked up an injury, that the first baseman doesn’t look as he needs to be placed on the 15-day disabled list. Yes, he picked up an injury but then for the manager he doesn’t appear seriously hurt after.

But the first baseman himself said he can’t tell if he is really not going to be on 15-day disabled list for there is still swelling.

Howard said: “It hurts. Right now it’s just swollen. It’s tight. Other than that, it’s not too, too bad.”

Howard’s x-ray tests were actually negative. Even his x-ray tests on his right elbow, they were negative. And so after the swelling in his right ankle, he can just return to the lineup. And Howard said it is really possible.

Howard said: “You never know. It’s a good thing we have an off-day tomorrow. … I was able to move it. Standing on it wasn’t that bad, but moving it laterally, I could feel it. It was hurting.”

Phillies first baseman sprained his right ankle when he tried to return to second base. He actually stepped awkwardly on the base and fell to the ground. He was then attended to by Phillies manager Charlie Manuel and assistant athletic trainer Mark Anderson.

Well, we just hope that Howard will completely feel good soon. We wish that he will completely recover from the injury soon so he can finally return to the lineup. He is someone to have in matches. We hope he will feel really fit soon.
