It is confirmed, the left-back Kieran Gibbs could be fit for Tuesday’s Champions League battle that will be with Standard Liege. News was from Arsene Wenger himself, Arsenal’s manager.

The young player actually injured his right ankle while playing for England Under-21s. He was expected to be out for certain period of time. But then, surprisingly, Wenger told Arsenal TV that it is indeed not going to happen. He actually said that, “he had a suspected broken metatarsal, but later on it was much better news”, and that “he will still be out for Saturday’s league game at Sunderland, but he could be back for Standard Liege”.

The 20-year-old player was featured in 21 events for Arsenal just the last term and has already played six games for this time around. At the European Under-21 Championship in Sweden last summer, event where Germany beaten England, he was actually tipped about a call-up to the England senior side.

The news about the true condition of Gibb’s injury is really a good news for Wenger who actually failed to have the likes of Johan Djourou, Denilson, Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner in some events. His team can be considered as injury-ravaged. The said players are with injury.

And there is also another player Wenger will miss having in some future events. It is Robin van Persie who ruptured ligaments in his right ankle. He would be out for roughly six weeks.

Wenger might have felt low because of his players getting an injury. But then at least, he got a good news. In a way, he can feel better now knowing he can have one of his players back from an injury. And hopefully soon, he will have the others as well. It should just be a matter of time.
