Gallardo Spoke About New Five-Year Contract With Milwaukee Brewers

Yovani GallardoYovani Gallardo finally faced the cameras on Thursday and spoke about the new five-year contract with the Major League Baseball team Milwaukee Brewers. And based on what he has said, he could just eventually find guaranteed financial security with such contract that is worth $30.1 million thus he considered going for it.

Gallardo has actually been well-known for being a family man. Therefore, it is not surprising to know now if he did consider opting for such a good contract.

“It sets up my son more than anything,” said Gallardo. “It sets him up for college or whatever he wants to do. That’s the No. 1 thing.”

Gallardo could feel secure with the $30.1 million offering of the new five-year contract with the Brewers that would cover at least three arbitration seasons and one year free agency. And he could just be also happy with the $42.5 million that he could earn with a unique club option for 2015 that would indeed cover his second season of free agency.

While the team seemed secured with Gallardo being around.

“As an organization, we view him as a top-of-the-rotation guy,” said Brewers manager Ken Macha. “He’s got great stuff. We all knew that. But the poise that he shows — he never gets flustered, he’s always in control of his emotions when he’s out there. I think the rest of his teammates feel that when he’s out there, this is going to be a ‘W’”.

Also, pitching coach Rick Peterson seemed in complete amazement in regards to how Gallardo has become. He has indeed become someone worth having.

“I’ve had the great privilege of having a lot of young pitchers break into the big leagues and having very, very good to great careers,” said Peterson. “Yovani is in that class, without question.”
