Flachi Being Positive for Cocaine Now Might Cause Brescia Trouble

Francesco FlachiBrescia, the club that gave Francesco Flachi another chance to play, now might be into a problem. The striker, for the second time around, has actually failed a drug test according to the Italian Olympic Committee.

In 2007, while still with Serie A side Sampdoria, the 34-year-old Flachi turned positive for cocaine. He was then banned for two years. For two years, he was not visible in games.

Now, for the second time in his career, Flachi turned positive for the same substance, cocaine. He underwent a random drug test after the Serie B game against Modena on December 19. Quite surprisingly, as almost everyone thought he has completely changed for the better, he once again turned positive for cocaine.

The Italian Olympic Committee actually released a statement in regards to Flachi’s case and it read, “CONI announces that a positive test has been confirmed on Francesco Flachi with the presence of substance benzoylecgonine found in tests done by the FIGC on December 19 after the Serie B clash between Brescia and Modena”.

Last summer, Brescia offered Flachi the position as striker and the veteran player actually accepted it. A lot of fans thought the opportunity has come for him to clear up his reputation. The club may also have had strong faith on him, that he will actually be good. But now, with this latest controversy on him being positive for cocaine, the second time around, it might really be that his career will soon come to an end completely. A lifetime ban is just so possible for him now. He might be banned from playing for life. He might not get another chance to play. Time is up for him and for his career. But then, it is only him that is accountable for everything, no one else is.
