Everton Can’t Afford Donovan

Landon DonovanInternational footballer Landon Donovan said recently that he will be happy to return to Everton club. Before making it to this summer’s World Cup in South Africa, he spent first three months on loan with the Toffees of course from Los Angeles Galaxy.

Donovan seemed serious about returning to the club. However, Everton manager David Moyes has actually said that the club would love to have him back however might not afford him.

Moyes said: “We’d love to have Landon but he looks too expensive for us and we just don’t have it. We don’t have the finances. The price the MLS want for him is very big and it’s an additional problem because of his age.”

Moyes admitted that Everton would love to have Donovan back. But the problem is they don’t have the finances to have the footballer.

Moyes said in addition: “All we’ve done is spend £1million on Magaye Gueye so far. Jermaine Beckford and Jan Mucha were free, so we’ve spent no money by Premier League standards and will probably be the ones who spend the least this season.”

In ten starts and three substitute appearances for Moyes’ club, Donovan scored twice. He just seemed comfortable playing for the club then, he was able to score twice.

For Moyes, most likely, it was good to hear that someone like Donovan was keen on returning to the club. And if only the club can do something to have him, it will do it just to have him. But then, there was nothing that the club can do, it can’t just have him.

Hopefully, Everton will eventually have the finances to afford Donovan and naturally the footballer is still available for a return when it happens. They will be powerful as one. We are just hoping for the best!
