DeRozan Deserves a Spot in the Rookie Rankings For One Sports Writer

DeMar DeRozan dunkFor one sports writer, from NBA.com, DeMar DeRozan deserves a sport in the Rookie Rankings considering his current statistics, which without a doubt really got even better compared to his past.

DeRozan is averaging 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds and shooting 49 percent, 86 percent from the line over his last 4 games. This player who grew up with Bucks rookie Brandon Jennings, can be considered significantly improving.

DeRozan told the Montreal Gazette, “I got too caught up with being a jump-shooter”, and that, “I had to get back to what I did best”. He increased in production and just all because of a newfound aggressiveness that he can simply carry out through.

DeRozan indeed does best in getting to the basket and he just realized this. “It’s like figuring out how to talk to a girl — you finally know what to say” DeRozan said on Tuesday. “I have an infatuation with the line. I just want to get there; it’s easy points”, he added.

The Compton, Calif., product took just 28 free throws in his first 19 games but then just taken 29 in his last 4 games. Thus, it is not surprising that the Raptors had three straight wins that have led to a remarkable improvement in their record to 10-13.

Coach Jay Triano of the Raptors told the Gazette, “right now, he seems to have a lot of confidence taking the ball to the basket” and that, “I think we have been a little bit more liberal in giving him the ball in transition and letting him create, and I think because of that he has prospered”.

DeRozan’s newfound aggressiveness has made him a far better, more productive player for his team. And for sure, he’ll go on improving, giving his side more points and more recognitions.
