Cotterill Powerless on Wilson Departure
Manager Steve Cotterill was interviewed recently regarding Marc Wilson’s possible departure and he admitted that he is powerless when it comes to such matter. He confirmed that West Brom have had a £3million offer turned down, Fulham seemed interested too, and Stoke seemed into the plan of offering player-plus-cash deal for the Irish footballer. And he said it seems that he is helpless when it is already about the possible departure of the footballer.
The Pompey boss explained: “I have to say I really don’t want him to go anywhere. But if I get to the situation where the club needs money, I don’t know what I can do about that. I might have that meeting.”
Cotterill confirmed that there are clubs which have been considering the footballer a target. And the boss was very honest for saying that the football club might have to accept an offer from any of the clubs if in tough financial situation.
The Pompey boss added: “What are the chances of Marc being around for the weekend? It depends on what I get. There are a couple of clubs that are interested in Marc. It’s difficult, but what do you do if someone comes in and gives you money and/or players? Marc Wilson is a quality player, but maybe this football club is not in a position to say no.”
The Pompey boss seemed serious about not letting the footballer go if only they can. However, the boss was also too honest about the possibility that they can let the footballer go if the worst happens. We just hope for the best for everyone. May Cotterill not come to a point where he is already forced to let the footballer go and may the footballer be able to stay if he wants to, just the best for them.
