Cole Realistic With England Squad

Joe ColeChelsea midfielder Joe Cole was interviewed just days before the announcement of who will make up Fabio Capello’s 23-man England squad for the World Cup finals in South Africa and the midfielder expressed optimism but then admitted will be realistic with it. Cole had some problems with career because of injuries, thus, the midfielder being a part of the squad could still be considered as questionable.

But, in England’s 2-1 win over Japan in Austria, Cole was able to set up the equalizer. Thus, the midfielder asked if he got any nerves.

“Do I have any nerves?” said Cole. “You’ve got to be pragmatic about it. I came here ten days ago to try to enjoy my time back here, train well, and it’s in the manager’s hands about the squad. There are a lot of players who will be hoping, a lot of players have got a good case. But, whatever happens, we are all right behind England and hopefully this will be our time.”

And Cole said that he was able to have a good season finish. This might be something considerable.

“Have I done enough?” said Cole. “I don’t want to go into that. I had a good finish to the season, I wasn’t starting but I was having an impact coming off the bench.”

Cole said in addition that he did his thing, just nothing to regret for.

“I came here and did my thing and I’ve enjoyed it because it has been such a long time,” said Cole. “Croatia was my last game and I ended up with ten stitches in my head. It is just nice to be back around the lads and it feels great.”

And for the announcement of who will make up Fabio Capello’s 23-man England squad for the World Cup finals in South Africa Cole expressed optimism and just said nothing can be done.
