Chelsea and Aston Villa Sure to Meet in FA Cup

FA CupIn FA Cup, the two popular teams are sure to meet. In the semi-finals of the Cup, Chelsea and Aston Villa are going to meet to actually battle and prove which team really deserves to win the prestigious FA Cup title.

The current holder of the FA Cup title is Chelsea and this team will surely do anything and everything not to lose it. Chelsea beaten fellow Premier League side Everton in the 2009 FA Cup Final event.

In the quarter-final tie recently, Chelsea was able to beat Stoke. While Aston Villa needed to come from behind to beat Championship side Reading and be able to make it through the last four.

But now though it would be very challenging to Martin O’Neill and his men to face the current FA Cup champions, the Aston Villa manager is still confident in regards to his side’s chances on FA Cup.

“We are delighted to be in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and we will take on anybody,” he said. “Chelsea is one of the best sides in Europe but we will take the side on. And we certainly don’t fear Chelsea.”

While assistant coach of Chelsea, Ray Wilkins, conceded that it is going to be a phase hard to overcome considering the opposition.

“When you reach this stage the opposition is going to be very tough and no doubt Villa will be a tough test for us,” Wilkins said. But Chelsea is still optimistic with own accomplishment. “We’re still in three competitions and delighted to be where we are at the moment.”

While Portsmouth will face either Tottenham or Fulham in the semi-finals. There will still be a replay between Spurs and Fulham on March 24 and the team currently on crisis have to wait for it so to determine if it will face Tottenham or if not Fulham.

The semi-finals will be on April 10-11 at Wembley.
