Fabio Capello seemed glad when interviewed after England’s game against Slovenia. Of course the manager can be glad as England in the game actually delivered a good performance. Because of England’s performance in the game in Port Elizabeth, Capello and his men can continue in the World Cup. They can advance to the next stage of the premier football tournament.

After the draws with United States and Algeria that just disappointed so many fans, England was left with only a game to win. Good thing England made it to win the game and so got the chance to qualify for the last 16.

“I saw the team play with the spirit that we lost in the games we played before this game,” Capello said. “The performance was really good and we created a lot of chances to score a second goal. This is the spirit that I remember when we played in the qualification games. I am really happy with the performance of the team. We played hard, we attacked the ball and this is important if we want to win.”

Well, the men of Capello did not actually win Group C and ended up just Group C runners-up. But then if the men are truly starting to have again the spirit that they seem to have lost for some time, they’ll be doing just better.
