Dimitar Berbatov, Bulgaria’s captain, after breaking a major goal-scoring record is now set to do everything just to win the Champions League. To win the prestigious league is one of his main goals ever since, and still he is very eager to finally achieve it.

The Manchester United striker actually broke the goal-scoring record of his fellow Hristo Bonev. Now, he is Bulgaria’s leading scorer after netting twice in a 4-1 friendly victory in Malta. He was indeed able to score his 47th and 48th goals on his 74th international appearance.

Bonev, on the other hand, actually anticipated long before that such fine striker just like Berbatov would really break his record. He indeed said, “I knew long ago Berbatov would break my record but I’m proud a player with such class did it”. He is glad that a striker like Berbatov, and a fellow to him, was the one who broke his record. He really finds him a top player, a player who is truly worth looking up to.

Bulgaria’s pride is of course happy making an amazing goal-scoring record. It is also one of his goals. However, what will surely make him happier is the Champions League win. It is most likely his only goal now.

“I’ve achieved a lot and now (winning) the Champions League remains my only unrealized dream”, the 28-year-old player said. And, “I took part in two finals and failed to win it so now I hope to make it third time luck”, he added.

No doubt, Berbatov has the potential to win the Champions League, may be it is just luck that hinders him from doing so. Has has what it takes to be a conqueror of such great league. He just needs chances to finally be.
