The war of words between Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer and England continues with the German labeling England “stupid” for actually failing to win Group C. Some football fans have thought that it already ended after Beckenbauer was condemn for saying that England returned to the bad old days of just kick and rush. But it actually just continues with the German criticizing England once again.

England failed to win Group C and so a last 16 clash with their old foes in Bloemfontein was set up.

“A game like this should be a semi-final, not a last 16 game,” Beckenbauer said. “Stupidly, the English have slipped up a little by finishing second in their group.”

But then the England players might not be doing that good in the World Cup because also of being into a long Premier League season. And Beckenbauer has just considered this as well.

“The English look a little tired,” Beckenbauer added. “There is a good reason for that: the Premier League players have got to play far more games than their Bundesliga colleagues, including two national cup competitions. Therefore, when it comes to a World Cup or a European Championships, they are burnt out. Our players, on the other hand, seem to be in a physically better condition.”

We believe that despite the war of words, Beckenbauer still truly has the respect for England. The German might not be just afraid of England.

“Of course we respect them, but we certainly don’t fear them,” Beckenbauer said. “England’s first two appearances at the World Cup were paltry, but they improved against Slovenia.”

Well, we just hope that everything will still end well between Beckenbauer and England. Despite what happened between them, may respect be still there, just like Beckenbauer still has respect for England and England still has respect as well for Beckenbauer.
