Austin ruptured his knee ligaments in FA Cup tie at Gillingham last November. Since then, he had been in and out of hospital for treatment of his ruptured knee ligaments. A lot of fans had badly waited for his return from treatment but were disappointed recently as the footballer returned but only to be taken back to hospital for remedy of facial wound. In his first game after being sidelined for long, he was elbowed in the face five minutes after start of play.
Burton boss Paul Peschisolido said: “We lost the game 1-0 and Ryan’s injury made it a terrible night for us. He got caught in the face by an elbow and needed stitches for a gash to his chin. I was hoping we might be able to patch him up and get him back on the pitch but in the end he had to go to hospital. The whole idea of the game was to get Ryan some pitch time, so it was a huge disappointment when he had to come off so soon after the start.”
Burton boss was also unhappy with what happened but then hopeful as well that they can still organize another game for him.
Peschisolido said in addition: “We will be looking to organize another game for him as quickly as possible because in the short time he was on the pitch, Ryan looked as though he was ready to take things to the next level.”
