Arsenal Knocked Out of the FA Cup by Stoke City
Arsenal fans were deeply saddened by the result of the weekend game between Arsenal and Stoke City, with their team losing to the Potters and worse, being knocked out of the FA Cup.
The Gunners tried to win that Sunday afternoon game against the Potters but then failed to. Their fans can’t believe that they didn’t make it but then reality was just right in front of them then.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger took the blame for the weekend game’s ending. The boss was believed to have fielded a weakened side. Sol Campbell, after an ill-fated spell in September at the Notts Country, actually played again, had his second debut for the club. However, the Potters ended up as 3-1 winners.
“Physically, Stoke were stronger. We were always exposed to a fight and some players were a bit young to cope with it. We didn’t want to go out of the Cup”, Wenger said.
And the Arsenal boss added, “but if you look at our schedule, it’s simple to see that you cannot always play with the same 11. If you change it and you don’t win, it’s your fault. Stoke were sharp, physical and always dangerous in the air. We weakened as the game went on and they got stronger and stronger in the one-against-ones. It was a game that was more physical than technical”.
While Stoke City seemed overwhelmed by what Wenger said. In behalf of the team, manager Tony Pulis said, “oh, that’s a compliment. The spirit was absolutely fantastic. Irrespective of which players are selected, Arsenal are a quality team”.
Now, the Gunners don’t have a chance on one of the most prestigious football events, the FA Cup. Aside from the fans, for sure the members of the team also feel bad about it. But then, life goes on and still, a chance will surely come.
